| Can anyone tell me how the glass quality compares on SWFA SS series or the Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP? Use would be purely a target rifle at 200-600 yards, so I'm thinking the 16x SWFA if I go with that one. Both seem to have decent reviews, but not sure which is better. |

I actually own both the PA 4-14 ffp and a 12x SWFA SS. Both are extremely high quality, low cost scopes.
If I had to pick one? I don't think I could. They are great for different things. On one hand you've got a well priced ffp with adjustable magnification. On the other you have a crystal clear glass, beautiful reticle and quality fixed magnification. Take your pick, you can't go wrong with either. But I do caution you with one thing. The more magnification you go with on the SS the more of a pain in the ass the scope seems to be for some people. The 10 and 12x seem to be most popular and offer the best viewing area and ease of use. I LOVE my 12x. Take a look at the 1 moa all day challenge in the GD forum. SPR Division and you can see just a little of what I can do with the SS. |

I have several 4-14 primary arms FFP scopes. They work. I like them a lot.
Why? The glass is good. How good? Better than the price point. I have shot at 600 yards several times and the 14x FFP is enough glass to comfortably make the shots. I have even ran it with a tnvc wasp and killed a pig at 100yards on a moonless night. So, yes . . . I like that optic. |

I would recommend the swfa but in a 10 or 12 power. 16 is too much magnification for 200-600 yards. Excellent glass for the money.
The ffp has a lot of features for the money but I would give the ss edge in optics clarity and I think variable magnification is not all that necessary for a bench rifle. |

These are my thoughts as well |
