So I dropped my brand new Vortex PST 1-4 while I was mounting it. The scope fell about 3 feel onto cement. The elevation turret has light scratches/indent and the front of the scope tube right near the objective lense got a tiny indent. Does anyone think it's possible that I may have caused any internal damage to the scope? I called Vortex their opinion is that it's probably okay but they said to try a box drill to make sure the tracking is working correctly. Any other ideas to check it out other than a box drill. I'm considering just sending it into Vortex since they have such a great warranty. Suggestions/Comments? |

Put a nick in the elevation turret and the illumination knob. It performs just fine even after the drop. I was pretty pissed, but oh well. If I break it at some point, Vortex will fix it. |

Any oddities through the ajustment range for elev and wind?
If there is an issue Vortex will make it right, forever, no charge. I just had to send in a Strikefire I picked up from PSA for $99 during a sale on a whim. Wind blew the rifle it was on off the bags/bench and it fell 4' onto concrete directly on the on/off switch. Switch was destroyed (dot still worked just coudnt turn it off, there was zero shift in POI too). I boxed it up, sent it to Vortex a week ago and just got an email with a tracking number for Fedex last night that it was on its way back to me. Or one just like I suppose if they decided it wasn't worth fixing. No charge to me other than the $5 shipping cost to them. And no bullshit about registration or proof of purchase/receipt or 'only manufacture defects' like you get with a lot of companies. I feel a LOT better about the $900 Viper PST I bought last month if they'll honor a not their fault no charge no questions asked repair on something like a strikefire. |
