I've just finished ordering the last of the parts for my first build.The rifle will be used for target shooting mostly. Most distances will be 200-300 yards. I'm putting a nice varmint barrel on the gun, so I would like a scope that can stretch to maybe 600 yards. Such distances will be rarely if ever shot though. I'd like to keep it around $300 if possible. The rifle is .223.
Any suggestions for scopes? What about mounts? Also, does anybody make a rail mounted iron sight that can stay on with the scope on? Thanks for the help. |

I have had no issues with them and they are all fairly close when installed as long as I make sure the reticle is centered prior to zeroing. I have even pulled one and reinstalled it and it was within a 1/2" of the original zero. I torque them to 45in lbs. They work great for me since I rarely remove the scope once installed. |

I have a Nikon P223 3-9 and love it. Matched with the P223 mount. That combo can easily be had for under $300...usually closer to 200 for the pair. If you wanted more magnification you could step up to the 4-12
