I've just finished ordering the last of the parts for my first build. The rifle will be used for target shooting mostly. Most distances will be 200-300 yards. I'm putting a nice varmint barrel on the gun, so I would like a scope that can stretch to maybe 600 yards. Such distances will be rarely if ever shot though. I'd like to keep it around $300 if possible. The rifle is .223.
Any suggestions for scopes? What about mounts? Also, does anybody make a rail mounted iron sight that can stay on with the scope on? Thanks for the help. |

The 1.5-4x20mm Mark AR with SPR reticle is also nice and perhaps better for close in use. As between the two, for OP's rifle the 3-9x40 Mark AR would be my choice in that price range. |

I have a Nikon P223 3-9 and love it. Matched with the P223 mount. That combo can easily be had for under $300...usually closer to 200 for the pair. If you wanted more magnification you could step up to the 4-12
I will likely choose one of these in the future to switch between long distance and close combat shooting http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/browse/category/opticmounts/scopemounts/ |
