My first and only AR currently sits without an optic. I am looking for a solid, all around optic that I can use mainly for range time, plinking and hunting (hogs and turkey).  I have my eyes set on the Primary Arms  2.5X Compact AR15 Scope with CQB ACSS Reticle. (https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-2-5X-Compact-Scope-PAC2-5X-p/pac2.5x.htm)   I like having magnified optics as I have grown up hunting with scopes, but dont want something over powered when on the range.  The ACSS looks like it would work for me for what I want to do, and if I have to make the gun a SHTF type rifle it would come in handy. The price point is nice being a poor college student and all reviews I have read have been great.  I do have a fried willing to sell me a basicly new EOTech 512 for $300. Im just wondering if the Primary Arms would suit me better or if I should pony up a couple more bucks for the EOTech from my friend.

I would look for more than 2x magnification for mostly range time.  Probably a 3-9x variable or even that PA 1-6x.
