Hey y'all - I just got a new EOTech (EXPS2-0) and I noticed something that bugs me. I like the design of the mount, but on mine, the QD lever doesn't seem to line up quite right. See pic:









Note the gap, and also how the curved part at the end of the lever doesn't follow the curve of the bottom of the hood (causing friction when fully closing the lever).

Also, the lever opens up a noticeable amount without pushing the release button:










Again, that's without pushing the button to release the lever.




Anybody seen this? Is there some way to fix that or is it just fucked up? I'll send EOTech an email if I need to, just wanted to check in here first. Thanks y'all!

The lever should not open if it is installed on the gun.

Correct - I just walked downstairs and checked mine - on and off the rifle. When installed, there is no movement of the lever, at all - rock solid. When it is off the rifle, my lever does move away a little. However, something is indeed seems to be out of alignment in your base - mine looks exactly as the stock image - fits snugly and follows the curve.

I wish I knew how to upload a picture here - can somebody give me a hint how to upload an image from my computer? Is it even possible?

photobucket is what I use bro. I upload them directly from my phone with the app, but it's just as easy from the computer.

 






Here's a pic of it installed, with the adjustment nut snugged up good. You can see where the tip of the lever is already wearing from rubbing the hood. I'm guessing this ain't normal.

you can tighten up the mount with the screw on the other side. Mine does that too a little. At least your buttons dont flop around like mine do.

I own three eotechs and none of mine have that little lip. Call eotech on it and email them a picture of it. I did that once and the guy got the email while I was talking with him.

I would send pictures to Eotech via email to confirm that it is a real product. In the even that it is in fact a fake, Midway should make it right asap. If it is real then L3 will repair it under warranty.

My EXPS3 lever pulls out a little bit when mounted,looks like yours but it doesn't hurt anything,the lever being slightly crooked would buy me a little bit,send it to eotech for repair/replacement

Emailed EOTech..I figure I'd rather get to the bottom of it from the experts rather than just exchange it with Midway. Got a very quick reply and the girl said it looks like something they'd like to have a look at. Waiting on return # now. Frustrating, but I'll be interested to hear what they have to say.

If I were to go on the limb here, it almost looks like somebody buying, monkeying around with it, then returning it to Midway - and them checking it briefly visually and for functionality and re-stoking it as new, because for all practical purposes it still may have looked brand new and unaltered. So I don't suspect the Midway folks here, but rather just some annoying chain of events...  I am also sure that Eotech will take care of it. I personally - this is just me - would immediately send it back to Midway for exchange to a new unit, while explaining to them what was the issue. I wouldn't want it to be fixed by Eotech - I would want a brand new perfect thing.

That's a good point..hmm. I thought about that - EOTech has already been lightning fast on communication, and I don't doubt their customer service, but I don't really want a "refurbished" unit. Damnit, I had my mind made up to send it to EOTech but now I kinda want to just exchange it and hope I don't get another lemon.

I would just want a new one. for mind sake and for the cost I spent on the thing I would want a perfect unit. Trust me I wish I did the same with mine and now I am stuck with shitty buttons.

Mine looks exactly like DoctorV's.  Yours may be some kind of newer model where the lever curve is suppose to match the curve of the hood, but its not mounted far enough back; therefor creating that gap and causing the hook to scrape.

Sent it back via UPS to Midway today. Probably another 2 weeks or so to wait for it to get there and get back. Plus I'm out an extra 11 bucks shipping. Oh well.
