What's the best option for an AR scope around the $300 range?  It's for target shooting around 100-300 yards.

I don't know if this is the best option but it's worth looking at.

I have the cheaper non-illuminated version.  I haven't shot it yet but the picture is clear and bright.

I have this, and for .223 it's fine but not alot of hold over for slower bullets.

I prefer more than a 1-4x for 100+ yd shooting.

Good choice.

Other options include Primary Arms 1-6, SWFA fixed, Weaver grand slam 3-10 mil/mil

Def budget tho.

I have a PA X6 on a different rifle, and it's not really enough magnification for the distance I want.

Id go at least min 6x really for fixed shooting type work.

Swfa 10x but they are hefty big.

Or if you want variable viper PST vortex?

This is an excellent scope from what I can tell - for the price.

I have the 6-18x power version with the side focus adjustment and turrets.  Great scope, great glass and holds zero.

you can get the 4.5-14x version for 267.21 shipped from here

If it is truly precision paper target shooting only at a know exact distance, get a fixed 10x or higher with fine crosshair reticle.  If you do intend to use the rifle at moving targets or intermediate ranges, you need a variable, and reticle and turret choice will vary according to the use.

Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP scope. And you can get a decent mount like a PEPR for the remainder of your $300.

You don't need to dial down the mag & increase FOV to track something. Your just going to find your target, put it on a rest or bi-pod & shoot. Nothing moving or running away on you...

This.  Don't get me wrong, though. A fixed 10x is a poor choice for all but punching paper at known distances or shooting at stationary targets.  Other benefits of the fixed 10x where its limited use makes sense is that there are fewer moving parts, fewer lenses, simpler design, fewer design compromises, and they tend to be brighter and may have sharper images, at the same price point, because lens quality can be upgraded and still stay at the same price point of a comparable variable.  They should be lighter, but frequently are not.

For most uses a 3-9x40mm is close to ideal.  It is no accident they are so popular.  Of that breed for tactical purposes in the $300 price range it will be hard to beat the value to price ratio of the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1, P5 dial.

What are some more $300 options that have around a 10x magnification maybe.. or what are just some good options.
