| I bought one of these last week when they were on special at Primary Arms for $169.99 with an Aero Precision one piece mount as a package. Just got it mounted to my rifle and I have to say that is one hell of a deal for an inexpensive scope. Light transmission seems as good or better than some of my Nikons, and I like the Dead Hold BDC reticle. I'll give a range report after this weekend when I have a chance to sight my rifle in and will have pictures as well. |

They tend to be lighter, shorter, slimmer, and can have great glass in their price range and do well in low light. I don't have a Vortex, but have heard good things about them. I have several in other brands, Leupold, Burris, original weaver and Redfield, and my favorite, an Austrian Kahles. This power range is pretty much my go to choice for all but long distance shooting. Wise choice, sir! |

I ultimately bought this optic because of the package price of it, but must say from all the playing around I've done with it so far (waiting for this weekend to sight it in) I really like it and its magnification level. |

I was eyeing the Vortex as well, but went with a Burris fullfield II cause it was 2 ounces lighter and I got mine for $150 of amazon with free 2day shpping. The Aero mount I got was standard shipping though. ETA: I debated getting a 1-4x, but decided that if I went that route I would have to spend $500 or more to get real good glass and a great 1x setting. Plus the scope is just so I can hunt with and target plink for fun anyways.

I have an older version which is a 35mm objective and has a duplex reticle with an illuminated center dot. It has served me well. I really like the little 2-7x28 Leupolds (non-illuminated) because they are so compact and weigh only 8 ounces. They are very clear. None of my 2-7x come anywhere close, however, to the Austrian made Kahles 2-7x36 (no longer imported).. Wow, is all I can say every time I use it. But with that "wow" comes a pretty hefty step up in price. There is cheap glass, good glass, great glass and then there is really great glass. The latter ain't cheap. |

Bushnell has one....missed a Kahles on Sample List last week.....pretty much settled on the Leupy VX-R #4 in a Aero Precision mount Burris does make an illuminated 2-7x.
