Yesterday I purchased two new in box Aimpoint Pro's for a few of the newer guns. When I get a new optic I always start by finding "true center" by adjusting the turret adjustments all the way to one side and counting the total number of clicks, and then set the dial in between the total number. Worked like a champ as always and both dots ended up directly above the BUIS as expected.
One thing I did notice is that BOTH units produced a very small amount of metal shavings from the turrets when going through this procedure (less than 10 minuscule pieces). I DID NOT turn any of the turrets past the point of where they stop, and the clicks are nice and smooth, but I can't help wondering where the metal shavings came from? I'd hate to think I might have to send two brand new units back due to this. Any input as to if this is normal is greatly appreciated! |
