Is there any acog sights for an ar15 for $200? And can anyone say if those scopes with red dots mounted on top are good and what kinds of prices for a good one of those? Thanks.

A real ACOG for $200? No! But you can find some decent acog-like sights around that price. NcStar and Bushnell both make decent (subjectively) acog style sights

Save a little longer.  You can get into an Aimpoint PRO for $350.  I have used some cheaper red dot/scopes and they are hit or miss.  I don't get the 1-4 scopes with a red dot mounted on them (waste of $ IMO).  Are you looking for magnification or red dot for closer shots?

I would avoid the NCStar Scope.  Check out the 1x4x from Primary Arms.

Why do you want an "acog" for $200?  What kind of shooting are planning to do with this rifle?  At what sort of range?

Don't get caught up in a certain look or style.  Examine what you really want to do with your rifle and that should guide your choices.

I.e., if you're using the rifle for plinking at less than 50 yards and home defense, a 4x ACOG doesn't make a lot sense.

Check out the Lucid HD7 at about $189 shipped.  Very rugged 1x red dot with advanced features.  It has four useful reticles, one of which is an ACOG like chevron.  It has no magnification, but you don't need it for most practical use at center of mass shooting out to 300 yards.

Just looking for a plinking rifle scope. Very interested in the primary arms red dots but I don under stand the cowitness thing. I want the absolute cowitness but
Primary arms doesn't have a mount that will do that with their micro dots. I want to shoot tight groups or attempt to atleast lol. I had a hard time sighting in the iron sights at 50 yards but they I think are pretty close. How a guy can see where the prongs are on a sma target at that distance is crazy, atleast to attempt to shoot close groups unless I'm missing a trick some where. Considered a magnifier red dot combo but a magnifier makes the MOA even worse. Any insight on the iron sights and how to get a gun set up for cowitness with a dot. I have a m&p 15 sport if it matters, thanks much.

Closest thing to an ACOG for $200 is the Primary Arms 2.5x for $250.

If you want to shoot tight groups, I'd look at something with more magnification.

This is one of the better ~$200 scopes.  Something like this is a good choice if you want a variable.

If you want absolute cowitness in a microdot, I am getting that with the Lucid M7 microdot mounted on a .600" riser.  The M7 usually sells for $189 shipped.  The riser can be inexpensive fixed or the $80 return to zero ADM lever QD in the photo of my setup below.  This is a very advanced RDS with amazing features at the price.  I run a second one with no riser on a tactical shotgun.  It is unfazed but 12 gauge slug and heavy buckshot recoil.

For a great 2moa red dot, don't forget the Vortex sparc. Was $200 for the last yr or so. Now with the advent of the Sparc 2, it can be had for $149 from what I've gathered. Great reviews regarding reliability, accuracy, drop tested while mounted, submerged, etc. Youtube is full of short/long term tests. I've used one for about 4 months after it replaced my EOTech 512. So far I like it. Also saved almost 6oz too, which is always a good thing. Comes with multi mounting options so one can run an exact or 1/3 cowitness.

Not the best pic, but it works.
