Working on Altering a build to fill a longer range role. Wanting to get an 18" barrel and swap out a 16" with a 3x fixed scoped on it. Looking at a Weaver Kaspa 2.5 -10x. Are these scopes of good quality? I know that optics are a get what you pay for deal for sometimes, but i also know that there are some decent ones out there that dont cost much. What is the general consensus for these scopes? I originally planned on getting the 4-16x from Primary arms, but I think this is too much scope for a 5.56. Am i wrong to assume this?

ETA:  I've got the 2.5-10x50 KASPA model

Below are my thoughts that I posted last year when I got mine.  I've been using it since August on my 22 LR AR and really like it.  Yes, I like my Vortex Viper PST better, but for the price this is a nice, feature-loaded optic.  I've tested whether or not the turrets are repeatable and they absolutely are throughout the full adjustment range.  I wound up w/ $85 in mine after I sold the rings it came with so I'm an extremely happy camper.

Hello all, I just picked up a Weaver Kaspa used off the EE and was wondering if anyone had any experience w/ these. I purchased it for use w/ my 22 LR AR upper for target shooting and distance shooting at steel plates. I received it yesterday got to play w/ it a little bit, my thoughts on it are below. I know that it's Chinese-made, but I wanted something cheap that had a wide adjustment range, illuminated reticle, and some sort of a mil-dot style reticle. I love the Vortex Viper PST scopes, but really don't care to drop $500-$700 on a scope for my rimfire target guns.

Pros
*CHEAP, I got it for $100 shipped including lens caps and rings
*Glass is decent, I was expecting horrible edge distortion but really don't see much at all so far
*Illuminated reticle will work great for dusk, it doesn't do much in broad daylight but I don't need it then anyways
*Mil-dot reticle (I'm going to check it at 100 yards to see if they are truly mil value)
*WIDE adjustment range, I counted 110.5 MOA from top to bottom (this was my primary interest in this scope)
*Has side focus adjustments
*Turrets restettable to zero and can be locked in place by pushing down on the top of the turret

Cons
*The reviews stating that the exit pupil sucks were RIGHT ON, but being that this is for a target gun I can get past that
*EXTREMELY mushy turret adjustments, this really made me appreciate Viper PST and Burris scopes in this regard
*It's heavy, but as long as that contributes to longevity I don't care (again, this is for a target gun)

The Japan made Weavers are very nice scopes. The Kaspa is made in china so I would pass.

Here is my favorite budget SPR scope.

I got the 1.5 - 6 x 32. Eye relief could be better. I bought it b/c I wanted more than 4x magnification and I wasn't wild about the reticle options I had to choose from. It was also on sale, I got it with a PEPR mount for $150 total. It works, happy with it but next scope will probably be a primary arms.
