My eyes, my eyes!!  They are getting old.

With the standard front sight post width, I am having a harder time keeping on target out past 100 yards. The problem is the windage as my shots tend to string horizontally along the top of the post. Is there any negative to removing the post and narrowing it down at the top.  I figure the only downfall is not being able to pick up the sight easier on close range. I have one rifle with a thin target post that I can do much better with accuracy-wise, but I wanted to ask before I got all "jiggy" with a file.

just get a kns one.  .052 or a .034.
I have filed a couple including tritium ones. they all function perfectly, but look like shit.
switched out to the .052 and wanted something smaller. .034 and is now perfect.

..also I just use the ears for a 'close up' sight picture, if you were worried about acquiring the post in that sense.

I really like the one they have that steps down to a square top 0.034".

$8 isn't bad for one, but I need 6 to have matching sights for all. The only discount I see for multiples is a variety pack.

I don't know why I didn't remember these sights. I believe the one I have is a KNS.

Thanks

Use a drill press and a file to thin down the ones you have. A dremel can work, too, but is much harder to get an even cut with.

I would appreciate help from anyone on a front sight post issue.  I was at the gun range here in East Texas recently and a man asked me if I wanted to look down his AR15 sights.  I did and found something amazing.  I am an older man, and the top of the front posts is a little fuzzy at distance shots especially.  However, on his the top of the post was perfectly visible and I could see the top of it in the sight picture with no problem.  He said the secret was the small groves that were in the top of the post running the direction of your sight.  He called them micro-groves.  I was stupid and didn't ask the brand name, thinking it would be easy to find.  But, I have not been able to find anyone that knows what he had.  It was the most beneficial, easy and simple change for the better I have ever seen.  Could anyone tell me what he had?  thanks, 4ema

I'm using the KNS .052 and like it a lot.  The .034 was a little small for my liking.  The big fat stock post was just horrible for try to get any precision.

thanks, I have seen these, but the ones he had were more square and they almost jumped at you, you could see the 'marks' on the end, I have seen nothing like them
