I've been shooting AR15s for 20 years, I've always liked the Santose improved battlezero(50/200) the best. What I didn't like about the 300 meter standard Army zero was whenever I tried it using 55gr or 62gr my shots were always 7-8" high at 100 yards. I read that people claim that shots are supposed to be 5-6" high at 100 with the 300 meter zero but I've never found that to be the actual case. After 10 years of just using the Santose zero I'm going to try the 300 meter zero again. My friend zeroed his AR with 77gr ammo and using 300 meter zero at 100 his shots were 10" high.

When you guys used the actual 300 METER zero with your M4 or A2 20" AR15 how high were your shots at 100?

When I zeroed I started at 25 meters, had rear A2 wheel one click forward then zeroed for impact just above front sight post, then went at longer ranges and clicked back to 300 setting and tested. My shots groups were 8" high at 100, this was using 20" Colt AR15 with A2 rear sight and ammo was 55gr Federal at 3250fps.

I bet if you do the same zero with M855 62 gr rounds the 100m group will be closer to the expected 5-6" high.
