I think that the .mil uses the EOTech's which are Night Vision compatible.  Not all of the EOTech's are NV compatible.

Shit, I just knocked my rifle over by accident. It was leaning up against the wall in my living room and it fell onto the optic. Is this enough to damage this thing? That should not affect it at all I wouldn't think. It probably takes more abuse just from firing I think..I hope..

Not sure why the YouTube link in that thread Rick-rolled you over to the "weird old guy kickin it at the beach" video, but the point of that thread was to illustrate how durable the EOTech XPS/EXPS optics are.  The rest of the thread has pictures and detailed information on what the torture test consisted of in case you missed it. Now I know you're asking about the 512 specifically, but nevertheless this should give you somewhat a warm and fuzzy that a simple drop of your rifle isn't going to cause any significant damage to your EOTech.  Guys are carrying these things in combat, in which their equipment is subject to more abuse than what your average internet commando puts them through.  In other words, your EOTech will be fine.  And if you have any issues with it, take advantage of the warranty and contact EOTech's outstanding customer support.

Turn it on.  Does it work?  Is it still co-witnessed with the irons?

If so, it's fine.

512 is not NV compatible. 552 is NV compatible.

Some people have had success in using the 512 under NV though. They'll put it on the lowest brightness setting possible and it will work for some NODs.
