Are there any down side to using EXSP3-2 with the two 1 MOA dots compared to using the EXSP3-0 with one 1 MOA dot? Does any one know who has the best deal on Eotech write now?

Just my $0.02, but I prefer the 1-dot reticle. The EOTech's forte is fast, reflexive shooting...add in another dot and who who knows which dot your eye-brain are using. If you only plan to make slow, controlled shots, then it would be OK.
BDC at the ranges one would typically use an RDS is minimal so you can make the adjustment mentally. |

Cheers I own the EXPS3-2.....and though I really like it, if I were buying it again, I'd prefer the one dot model. Without magnification, there's little need for more than one dot. The upside is I also have the magnifier, so the second dot could be better utilized. |

Quoted: I currently have a 3X Aimpoint magnifier that I could use. That would certainly help utilize a second dot. For me personally I don't shoot AR's much beyond 200 yards, so even with the magnifier I'd take the one dot model if I were buying it again. It's not a problem with two dots, just preferable with as clean of a sight picture as possible. |

Cheers I just bought an XPS 3-2 and zeroed it in. I bought it to replace my Aimpoint micro (4moa dot) because I have extensive experience with EoTech 512s and love how well I shoot the holosight. The 2 dot EoTech isn't very crowded in my opinion, and it gives you a lot of flexibility in shooting at different distances. I have heard that using a magnifier makes the two dots a LOT more usable, but even un-magnified I didn't have any issues. I say go for the two dot version. |

It's a matter of how far you shoot OP. If you really never take shots with your AR much beyond 200-250 yards, there is absolutly no need for more than one dot. That's essentially the formula you need to consider. I have AR's that get shot occasionally beyond that distance buts it's fairly rare. Those AR's carry variable power optics more appropriate for distance. Either way, I love the EXPS line, and don't think you'd have any real issues regardless of what route you take (1 or 2 dot). I will say I think the 3 dot model is somewhat useless in respect for having any practical need for a 3rd dot. If you shoot at distance that the 3rd dot is calibrated for you'd be far better off with more magnification than 3X....and should probably consider other options. |
