For the members that either own an EOTech or have researched them.
I have what I think are 2 basic questions. 1. Go with AA batteries or C123. 2. Some models have buttons to adjust sight while others have dials that appear from the pics on the eotech web site to require a screw driver in order to adjust. I would assume the buttons would be more practical but....it looks like the more expensive models use the dials. Would appreciate some knowledgeable opinions/advice. Or...do I have the operation all wrong? |

I like the EXPS models that use the cr123 batteries. They are shorter than 5xx that use the cr123's so they use up much less rail space. The buttons you see are how you adjust the intensity of
the illumination of the reticle. Different models will have the buttons on the back of the sight or on the side depending on the model. The screws heads you see are what you use to adjust the sights point of aim when sighting in. |

Let me ask you another question....difference between the xps2 and the exps models. Also why is there a 2 dot reticle version? Edit; got the answer to the 2 dot question. What do most of you guys prefer ...1 dot or 2? |

I prefer 1 MOA dot with 65 MOA circle. I don't run a magnifier so rail space is not an issue for me. I have two 512's which I use AA Lithium batteries and never had a problem. I also have an old 511 which takes N batteries which has shorter battery life. If I were buying new I might look at the EXPS version where they use one CR123 battery cross ways. The 512's are still the best value and have long battery life with lithium batteries which are readily available. I never used Alkaline batteries for fear of them leaking acid, it just wasn't worth the risk for me.
Some of the difference between the EXPS models are some have Night Vision capability and some use a 3 MM quick disconnect riser. The more options the more expensive. |
| check and see if eotech still has the 60.00 rebate going on . I have an xps2 with the 2 dots on one of my 300 blackouts and like the fact the buttons are on the back it makes less chance for me doinking up something and I can still reach the buttons with a magnifier on . I was on the fence about an eotech but I have grown to like the one I have and dont regret my purchase . when I bought mine I just went ahead and ordered a dozen batteries at the same time since my weapon light also uses 123 batteries . |
