Just put a TA31 ECOS on my ranch rifle. First ACOG I've owned. I have a question for the professionals here about the "rain sights"? Are those things practical/ useful/ effective? Thanks.

In my owners/maintenance manual, the rear iron sights located on the left side of the optic are referred to as rain sights.

The few times that I have used mine (TA01NSN), I've found them to be no worse than pistol sights for engaging a target. I believe they are factory 'zeroed' at 50 meters, but that may vary between the different models.
