I recently bought a Leupold Mk AR 3-9 for my AR with the Firedot reticle(awesome scope for the price BTW), and have decided that Mil isn't for me, since I've been raised on MOA, and that's what I know.

So since I'm getting a new scope for my AR, I figure I should also replace the cheap 4-12 Bushnell(its a banner IIRC, and the glass is horrible) that's on my 700 as well.

What I am looking for- 3-9x scope for my AR, and a 3/4-12x that are MOA adjustments, and an MOA reticle. I would like to stay between $800-1000 for both scopes(so $400-500 ea.)

I have a Vortex PST 4-16 in that price range and LOVE IT.    Take a look at one if you can.   It's a nice scope.   Lifetime, no haggle replacement if it ever breaks and it's transferrable if you want to sell it which helps to keep the value.  With a LaRue mount, you can pass it between both rifles.

Just get the hunting equivalent of your Mark AR -- A Leupold VX-2 with regular turrets and reticle.   Same glass, same warranty.  Less money.

If you want Firedot reticle in a hunting scope you may have to move up to the VX-R line, which will give you a choice of the regular duplex or the German #4 reticle, both with FireDot.  It should be only $50 or so more than your Mark AR with Firedot..  It will have a 30mm tube, however, so you will need a different mount.  I'm not sure there is a 1 inch tube hunting 3-9x with Firedot.
