Those of u running red dot sights on your ar15, do u prefer fixed front sight post or a flip up front sight?

Fixed. Unless you think that you can install a gas block with high enough quality and reliability in your closet as they do at the Colt factory.

Just curious, what does installing a gas block in a closet have to do with the OP's question?

Get a rail that runs over the gas block, then blue locktite the sumbitch down. Unless something cuts/pierces through the rail, nothing should come into contact with the gas block.

I prefer a fixed FSB.

Fixed front sight with a mount that provide lower 1/3 cowitness

OR

Standard height mount (absolute cowitness) with folding front sight.

That's my preference; I think std height (absolute cowitness) coupled with a fixed front sight is too obstructed.

(And "absolute" cowitness isn't more accurate/better than lower 1/3 cowitness, it just defines the cowitness location as being the center of the red dot's field of view versus pushing that business down lower so it less obstructs the field of view)

Flip up. I hate having stuff in my FOV.

Fixed FSB is what I prefer.

Front flip sight so you can fold it down out of the way. I run a LMT CQB with front and rear flip sights and wouldn't have it any other way.

Even with the rear folded down, the front post helps me index the red dot faster.

Depends on the optic for me. Eotechs and aimpoints I like an absolute co witness with flip ups. With the SRS its built in lower third and I dont mind a fixed front because the window is huge and you can easily see over the top of the sights.

My preference is offset buis mounted on the flattop receiver and the folding front sight mounted on the gas block. Out of the field of view of the RDS, yet instantly available with a simple  wrist roll. In a  high-pressure environment, I want the clearest view I can get yesterday. I'm fast, very fast in the transition. Try it, I think you will like it. 44-40.
