| A stupid question.......What is Eye Relief on scopes? What does it do with the eyes? Please enlighten..... Thanks. |
| More precisely, optimal eye relief that distance from the eyepiece in which you obtain a full field of view. With most good scopes this will be in the 3 to 4" range. A scope needs to be mounted far enough forward of your eye that when you mount the stock in your normal cheek position, you have a full field of view. No more, no less. And if it is a variable scope, you need to be able to maintain that full field of view throughout the zoom range. |
