| Rather than start another Aimpoint vs. Eotech thread that I'm sure everyone can do without, I have a question about trying out different optics. I just got my first AR-15 and am of course looking at different optics and BUIS for it. None of my friends own ARs (idiots) and my local range has rental guns, but they only come with the standard iron sights. I'm looking at the aforementioned Aimpoints and Eotechs as well as the MBUS, MagPul Pro, and Troy BUIS. Looking at these all online is great, but only gets me so far. Does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to demo some different sights and/or optics before purchasing them? |

best thing is go to a gun show, I wish I looked through all of them. I have a eotech I bought cause it looks cool. I haven't even used it, when I got it, my eyes blurred the halo too much and now I want something with magnification. wanna buy mine That is definitely something I did not think of. Not many gun shows out here in Southern California, but there are a few. Will check that out and if I end up liking the Eotech I'll contact you about possibly purchasing yours. |

It's all yours if you can work out a deal. Soonest gun show near me is at the end of next month. So I don't think I'll have a chance to check anything out until then. |

Do any local stores carry them? I'd agree that you'd be better served actually shooting something with one on it, but looking through one at the store might be the next best thing.
Do you have a .22 or some other "fun" gun that you were wanting to put a red dot on? There are plenty of low-cost offerings out there, from Primary Arms, Vortex, Bushnell, ect., that will give you a very Aimpoint-like experience. That would at least give you an idea if you like the Aimpoint style sights or not. There's really nothing out there, other than cheep Chinese airsoft junk that approximates an EoTech, so that will require finding someone who has one or buying one, most likely. |

No gun stores near where I live, one of the few drawbacks of Southern California. And sadly I don't have anything like a .22 to put a cheap red dot or knock off sight on. Although I may have to change that just to use it as an excuse! That's the spirit! |

Been looking at a sightmark Z series anyone have any experience with them? I'd like to hear some feedback about Sightmark as well. I've seen the YouTube reviews and everything, but does anyone here have anything to share? Thinking about getting the Aimpoint clone before springing for the real thing. |
| advice? spend the money once and get what you REALLY want, because if you don't you'll end up buying multiple cheaper optics and not being happy with them, then you'll spend the money on what you really wanted. do it right the first time. eotechs & aimpoints are both a great choice. good luck. |

This is definitely what I would like to do. The problem is I have no real way of testing out either brand. |
