any info on the chopped carry handle never heard of this before If you're handy making things you could cut an inexpensive detachable carry handle and make it similar to a LMT rear sight which cost more. Here's instructions and plenty of pics from do it yourself guys. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_18/298610_How_to_Chop_your_Carry_Handle_into_a_BUIS.html&page=1 I have a LMT but if I'm going to build a simple lightweight carbine I would either get the Daniel Defense or LaRue. With the LaRue you have a choice of mounting, either QD lever which is on the right side so not to interfere with the charging handle (for right hand shooters) or their VFZ mount which are not QD which uses the LaRue wrench (the VFZ mount are $25 cheaper than their QD lever mount), also the LaRue are same-plane small and large apertures. |

Fixed sights are made by DPMS (don't do it), LaRue, LMT, Daniel defense, Troy, and others. I have used and like the LaRue, LMT, and mil-spec carry handles. I do not like the DPMS since I couldn't get it to Zero. I could not get a DD to zero, without it being all the way to one side, (it is the sight not the upper) and I have not used the Troy. |

pick up a used DD rear on the EE for 50 bucks. The troy fixed will work but it will look like an inverted monkey penis...If you like inverted monkey penis go with the troy. I do not recommend the DOA aperture because it sucks monkey penis. Both will get the job done. Or you could get a stolen KAC micro on ebay for 40 bucks.
the LaRue is top notch as well but more money |
