| Has anyone tried sight marks optics? I bought one and shot a few rounds with it. It worked pretty good. I was wondering if anyone else has tried them out? |

What is your budget? Sightmark is not known for making outstanding optics.
ETA: If you can scrape together $375 you can get an EoTech 512 or an Aimpoint PRO. That is the most inexpensive way to get a quality optic. ETA 2: I do have a friend with a Sightmark red doto that kind of looks EoTech-ish. It works on his AR, but he broke it with a S&W .500 If you are mainly just plinking around with it, then it's probably not that big of a deal. But the typical problem with inexpensive (cheap) optics is that they won't hold zero, won't stay on, keeps coming loose, has that goofy blue/green tint to it, battery life sucks, controls stick or don't work, etc. I would venture to guess that you will, at some point, encounter one or more of these problems. And I know you've already got the blue/green glass problem. |

I have an ACOG for the $1200 price point, so when the time came, I tried a Cheaper Than Dirt budget unit, busted first time, send it back and went a few more bucks for a SightMark.
Like the above post, I wouldn't want it in combat, but to train up on holographic sights, without more than $120 investment, it has worked. So, OK to buy, learn and use, then dig deep and get the EOTECH that you should really have (Or if bucks are unlimited, just go buy the EOTECH..........FWIW Oh yeah, make sure you keep the box and receipt for the SightMark, just in case you have to return during the warranty period. |
