New gun in need of new optics .

I love Aimpoints.

Just need some help trying to decide what to put on the new lady.

CompM4S or T1 Micro.

Primary envisioned use will be quick acquistion short distance (less than or out to 100 yards for 99.9%).

Would like somewhere down the road to maybe add a 3X magnifier for 200-500yds so proper alignment/plays well together would be important.

I don't now, and probably won't ever, have NVD if left to my own needs and financial ability. Unless I happen to pick one up off abandoned equipment during SHTF of course.

Looking for key differentiators between the CompM4S and the T1. Open to ideas including the CompM3 family as well as the Pro.

Price and Battery Life would be the two biggest comparison categories I would imagine, as well as co-witnessing with iron sights and the ability to interface cleanly with the 3X magnifier down the road (so mounting options are important as well).

Thoughts??

What do you run and more importantly, why did you choose the particular model you are using?

T1... Why? Because Comp M4s are for poor people!

Real reason? Size and weight. Ounces add up to pounds. It can do everything the larger models can do.

Any thoughts on the H1? The only differences (that I can see) is that the H1 has a little tighter environment ratings (-20 to +140F) compared to (-50 to +160F) for the T1 while being completely waterproof where the T1 is only rated to 25M (not that I plan on going 2M with it).

Any functional differences between the H1 and T1 that aren't mentioned in the tech specs????

The reason why I ask is that the H1 seems to be a tad cheaper cost wise than the T1.

I thought the T1 was night vision compatible and the H1 was not.  I thought that was the only difference.  I would go with a T1.  M4s usage of AA batteries is very appealing. Both having a 4 year battery life makes the easy to find battery for the M4s not as appealing.
The M4s is a beast.  It will feel like a potato in a larue mount after using a T1.  Both are absolutely fantastic but ever since I took off my old M68 and put on a T1 I know which I would go with.
Micro all the way.  the M4s is pretty awesome too though.........either way you can't go wrong......get the micro or the M4s..
get both

I would go for the T-1.

When using the T-1 in Binden aiming the tube or barrel of the sight fades out to a little grey halo around the red dot. This allows you to keep good situational awareness, minimize forced sight fixation and speeds up your transition between targets as you can better see where you're going next.

Add to this the fact you get five years outta the battery and the 3x magnifier works just as well with this as any other Aimpoint optic, well, you have too many advantages. It doesn't hurt that Larry Vickers blew one up, cracking the lens and it still held zero (he had to drop it 200ft out of a Helo to bring it off zero). Tough, light, efficient, versatile, adaptable and very unobtrusive...  makes for a good RDS if you ask me.

T-1 all the way. When I added it with a Larue  660 mount to my lightweight build 2 weeks ago. I can't even feel the weight difference with it or without it.

I had a CompM4s. I sold it, and now I own 3 T1's.

With those two choices. With both eyes open. The T-1 blocks less of my vision than the bigger ones. So T-1 would be my preference. But I need to learn more. Now decide 2 or 4 MOA. That's a tough one: I need to find that thread.

Another very satisfied T-1 user here. So light yet robust. Great for maintaining large FOV.

love my t1, favorite optic (compared to my acog and bushnell elite 1-6x)

I know the PRO and the CompM4 have the same size diameter glass, but how about the T-1? Is the lens smaller than the Comp M4? If so, how much?

30mm vs  20mm

Some say the T-1 has issues when shooting with it in awkward positions.  More than not do not have this issue.

I vote T-1

I am going the opposite direction selling some T-1's 4 MOA and looking for a Comp M3 2MOA

I am not sure if the T1 is 2MOA but it does make a difference compared to the 4MOA dot. That and you can probably pick up a used Comp M4 for $100 to $150 less, plus the QRP2 mount is solid mount meant for military use. The T1 mount you will probably replace, costing more money.

I think if you are a budget, a used Comp M4 for around $400 with the QRP2 mount is hard to beat IMO.
If you have cash to blow then go for the T1, it is by all means the go-to for small, light red dot optics today. Though when all said and done, with a Larue or KAC mount the T1 will likely be pushing $550-$600, about 50% more than a comparable Comp M4.

I was able to trade a Remington 870 for a used Comp M4 and couldn't be happier.

Another vote for the T-1.

I prefer EOTech's but I have a micro as well. I wouldn't buy any of the M models for even half price.

I vote for the PRO.  2 moa dot and good battery life.  Also a LOT cheaper!

I have a COMPM4 but I would like to try a T1.

I stepped down from a 1-4x variable due to weight so the next step is a smaller lighter RDS.

Something about the micros doesnt work as well as larger models when magnified.

Can you elaborate? I've got an Aimpoint 3x magnifier on order to use with my T1s.

I am going through these same thoughts too about a Red Dot.

I feel that if you are going to add a 3x magnifier ehtn go with the T1 or H1. A Comp4 or PRO with a magnifier is too much real-estate on top of an AR for my liking. If money is an issue and you only want a Red Dot then the Aimpoint PRO gets my vote.

I'd be comparing the PRO and the T1/H1.  I wouldnt be able to justify the price of the compm4 over the PRO if I wanted the bigger Aimpoint lens.  Having said that, I would probably go with the H1 due to weight.

I have half a dozen T-1, 2 MOA and wouldn't use any other RDS. Go with the T-1 and don't look back, you won't be disappointed.

Just ordered a T-1 in 2MOA for my wife :)

M4s for me cause I would like to have a full size Aimpoint since I already have a T1.
