Hi Everyone,
This is my first post so excuse me if mis speak. I am the proud owner of a Rock River Arms "The Government Model" Ar15 rifle. This is an awesome AR and definatley my baby!! I currently have an EOTech 552 Holosight mounted on a picticanny rail. This is a good sight but mainly for 100 yards and under. I am currently looking for a scope for a range of 100+ up to 400 yards. I have been doing research on a Nikon M223 BFC 600, 3-12x42. What I need help on is the mounting system. Does anyone have experience with this scope ? Can you suggest a mounting sytem for my RRA that uses a 1" Picatinny Rail? I am leaning towards the Leupold Mark 2 Intergal Mounting System. I appreciate the experience of this forum and look forward to hearing from all the experienced AR15 owners. Thank you, "Those who trade liberty for security, have neither" |
| The Leupold looks rock solid and has many good reviews, but, is it really much different than the NIKON P225 mount ??? They look amazingly similar, and I was wondering if there are any real known differences between them. I too will be ordering one or the other in the very near future for mounting the same scope on a new Rock River Coyote Varminter. |

The difference is the Nikon has a on-piece base that just pinches together as you tighten the mounting screws, while the Leupold has a separate detachable mounting bar that clamps to the receiver. |

I would go with the Nikon M223 XR mount: http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-m-223-mount.html I just got back from a shoot with Nikon last week. I used the 3-12x M223 on a DPMS with a 24" heavy barrel. I nailed the center of the 10" gong at 500 yards every time. Chase B. |

OP,
I would recommend the Trijicon ACOGs as a good option for scope within that range. Specifically the TA-31 series. Check out their website: www.trijicon.com. You can't go wrong with the ACOG. Also, I have been finding excellent deals for ACOGs in Grab A Gun (www.grabagun.com). Look around their website for deals...YMMV though. |
