Ok. I have been looking for a semi cheap (around $200) scope with some magnification.  I am going to be shooting with guys that generally shoot anywhere from 100-300 yards to START their days lol.  That will be the extent of my shooting on most days though I would love to be able to eventually crank it out to 500 yards or so if the rifle can handle it.  Since I just bought and am assembling my first AR, the budget is tight.

I read on some other forums that this one isnt terrible.  HERE

However, since it was this site that led me in all the right directions for building my AR, I figure why not turn to you guys to help me find the proper scope/optics I can actually use.

Thanks all

Well ill tell you from experience that with optics you definitely get what you pay for. I wouldn't touch an NC Star optic for anything. I know you are wanting some sort of glass on top of your new rifle but you would be much better served if you saved your money for a few months and bought something that will actually work well for what your describing. Buy once cry once. For what your describing I would look at a Vortex Viper PST 1-4X. Fairly cheap, lifetime warranty and great glass for the money. Don't get caught up in putting airsoft optics on your rifle because that's really what NC Star is. Just my opinion.
