I know that you're not supposed to put one of these on a railed gas block.
Has anyone done it anyway, and did you damage/melt it? |

I ran one on the gas block of a CMMG Piston carbine. I didn't do any mag dumps or anything, so I did not melt it. However, the heat I did generate was enough to weaken the polymer and cause it to crack right at the cross-bolt hole. I would advise against mounting that sight on a gas block. I swapped it out for a Troy Flip Up. This:  Resulted in this:  |
