I'm still fairly new to the AR world and currently am trying to  modify my weapon. I have a Bushmaster A2 Patrolman that I have been modifying for duty use as a Law Enforcement Officer. I need to know if there is a scope option for the fixed carrying handle or if I just need to shell out to change out the upper receiver to a flat top? I'm open to all suggestions. I also don't have much experience for looking at scopes. Ranges I will be working at are probably going to be from 25-200 yards.

There are...and in some circles, the Aimpoint on the handle set up is very popular.  It isn't real sleek, but there are those who swear by the headsup/weapon more centered firing position.

A.R.M.S. (a bit of a dirty word around here) makes one.

An Aimpoint Mirco in the carry handle would be a hot setup, I think, but don't know if anyone makes a mount...someone must, though.

This + one of the Aimpoint Comp series and the correct adapter/ring if required should get you started.

ETA:  this was actually a common set up in the days prior to the flat-topped M4s.  If you google Black Hawk (I know, it's actually one word but not for the book/movie) Down carbine you can get an idea of the set up.  There were actually a lot of ARFCOMers that cloned the carbines seen in the movie (found it).

A mount like this will alow the use of an Aimpoint micro on the handle, yet allow use of iron sights.

If the Aimpoint PRO is closer to your budget a mount like this will work.

Thank yall for the feedback. I really like the idea of still being able to use my iron sights. Probably going to go that route.

I myself don't like optics being mounted off the carry handle. I myself would either go KISS and leave it with irons or buy a flat top. But that is just me, YMMV.
