My TA31 just developed moisture inside, I sent it back to Trijicon today for repair. I'm the second owner so they said I will have to pay for repairs. Any idea what this usually cost?

Yea, I was suprised too. I've had it since 2006, so it sin't new and it was built in 2005. It went with me to Iraq in 2007 but anyway I guess I'll see what happens.

Maybe you should have them replace the tritium while they're in there.

That is fucked up.

Trijicon just lost a sale here. I was trying to decide on another optic and I was looking hard at another ACOG. Well fuck you Trijicon.

A few years ago I found a Burris scope at a flea market, an older fixed 12X. Nice shape but it had a few small problems. It was 20 years old and who knows how many people owned it before me. I paid $40 for it bit figured it to be worth far more.

I contacted Burris, sent it in with a note to please contact me with an estimate before making repairs. Two weeks later UPS delivered a package with a New Burris scope box, my scope completely gone over, repaired and looking like new, a bikini scope cover, a Burris scope pouch all for NO CHARGE.

For what we pay for a ACOG we should receive better service and support.

There's a chance they won't even bill you. I've heard of trijicon not charging for repairs even when they say they will.

Keep us updated. GL!

could it possibly be glass dust, and not moisture?... my 1.5x16 had glass dust, and was repaired without cost...

I agree ... that is messed up.

The damn thing shouldn't have a leak and if it leaks they should cover it.

If they receive it and find that the housing is cracked or a cracked lens then I could understand it NOT being covered due to abuse. This could all be quickly & easily explained over the phone though. That would be considered as reasonable.

I do NOT consider it as reasonable to expect to lose warranty by being a 2nd hand owner. That's just stupid! ! ! There's just no justification for that other than to charge people money for repairs that would otherwise be covered.

You have no idea whether it is a manufacturing defect or something the first owner did to it.  Or for that matter something you did to it. There are risks associated with buying something second hand so all of you put on your big girl panties at least until they actually charge the OP for the repairs.  Until then you are crying about something that hasn't even happened.

FYI, I have sent two ACOGs back to be serviced for what was arguably my error.  Both times the repairs where done free of charge.  So I would guess you have a better than 50/50 chance based on my experience.

I thought my acog was going weak it was just my eyes going bad for too much time on the computer. I happily paid to have my acog changed to the .308 reticule with a new lamp

How much for the reticle change and recharge?  I'm especially interested in the reticle change fee.

That should knock down the resale value, but it doesn't since most people buying a used one doesn't know this. If I buy a used one...no warranty.
