im getting ready too trade my exps2-0 for ta31f can anyone give me some info on this acog. i see alot of people running them i also wonder whats the best distance you can shoot from like 50 yrds to 600 i assume since it has the marks for 600m. also hows the eye relive. i aways owned aimpoints and eotechs. this will be my first acog. too be honest i dont shoot but mybe 100 rds a month and the range i shoot at is no more then 200 yards if that. i just dont want too lose my eotech and get something that dont fit my shooting style. im also gonna own a tao1 acog before i get the ta31f. would it suite me better then the ta31f. i always been a big fan of acogs from the look and reading i seen on them. but never got too shoot with one just look through one at the gun shop. the reticle is still hard too make out on the acog except the mini acogs they look good. damn astigmatism. whats your guys thoughts on this.

I'm in the same boat and will be purchasing my first ACOG in the near future.  I was originally looking at the TA31, but am now torn between that and the TA11.  The TA11 offers better eye relief, but has a smaller field of view.  I usually shoot nose-to-charging handle, so I think the TA31 would be OK as far as eye relief goes, but I just figure more eye relief is better than less.  The TA11 is 3.5x, but I can't tell much difference when looking through them.  I am not concerned about weight.  I'll stay tuned to see what others say.

Check out this video. The guy uses his ACOG effectively at many different ranges. He isn't using the same weapon you are or even the same exact model of ACOG, but you get the picture. The video gets interesting at 4:40.

I handled most of the ACOG models and I picked the TA11. I love it! You can easily make good hits at 200 yards and should have no problem hitting man sized targets well beyond. The farthest I've used my TA11 was 200 so I couldn't comment beyond that.

I own a TA31F.   The FOV is amazing, but the eye relief is very, very short.   The eye relief thing doesn't bug me too much on an AR15, as I shoot nose-to-charging handle, as well, and get very good cheek weld from my Magpul UBR stock.   However, the short eye relief is a bitch on my .308 FAL.   If you don't get your shooting stance and cheek plant just right, you are going to get an eye socket full of ACOG when that .308 recoil pushes on your shoulder.   (Its a great trainer though and reinforces good shooting principles though.  )

Overall, I love the TA31F - it is my favorite all-around ACOG.  If your eyes are good, you can take advantage of the BAC and use the TA31F like a red dot at very short ranges.   I still do prefer my Eotech 512 at distances under 200 yards though.   You just can't beat the speed of a dedicated RDS.
