All,
I'm putting together a dedicated hog-hunting rig for use at night here in Texas. Caliber will likely be either .308 or .458 socom (I'm leaning to .458) and range will max at 200 yards, I believe. I've just starting looking for night vision optics and am pretty stunned at some of the prices I've seen. I want something with minimum 4x magnification but can't really budget more than 2k for the complete optics setup. Any suggestions? Thanks! D |

Probably best to check in the 'Armory' under the Night Vision forum. TNVC is always there to pass on some recommendations. Check out TNVC in the mean time.
Most of that cheap night vision stuff is a waste of money. Someone bought me a set of inexpensive night vision for Christmas and it was almost absolutely worthless. I hung on to it for years before tossing it in the trash. The IR illuminator looked as bright as a red LED so it wasn't stealthy at all either. I have a feeling that most will recommend a PVS-14 or something like that. They are not cheap |
