No, they are not junk.  At $449 MSRP, PFI/Safariland charges far too much (IMO) for their product line.

FWIW, ~$200-$250 is the maximum they should charge because this is, roughly, the same price that you can find the Burris XTS-135.

Just buy an Aimpoint PRO... i went with a budget RDS that was good quality (Vortex StrikeFire) and it worked fine but a month later it just wasn't really doing it for me.  The PRO can be found for like $350 on EE or $400 new and it is worth it.  I am not that familiar with the optic you listed and i have no doubt it will work, but I like to go with stuff that has a more proven track record.  Also I don't like when they put "special ops" in the name and the special warfare community has never used the damn thing

That web page says the following:
The SOPS-33mm sighting system is the most advanced sight of its kind available

Their website claims that the battery life is only 8 days and the price is $500

Well ... that is NOT anywhere near considered as "advanced" or better than most other optics that cost much less like the Vortex StrikeFire for instance.

I would buy an Aimpoint PRO which has 3 year battery life, a battle proven optic and save yourself $100 to boot.

The RDS is $189 on WOOT.

At $189 it is a good deal.

At MSRP, you are insane to buy one.

Ahhhh I see that now. Brain fart. I didn't see that before. I was just shocked to see the MSRP and the description.

I'd recommend a Vortex Strikefire over this.  Much more proven and recognized.  Vortex can easily be had for $150-170, and works great.

I'm not a fan of rotary dial power switches personally, but Vortex is a rugged design, waterproof and all.

Equipment Exchange - You can buy, sale or trade anything gun related or not, right here on the site. There is an orange tab that says "Equipment Exchange", top right...hit that tab and it will change your life. I watch it all day looking for the next great deal. I took me a while to jump on because of the trust issue, but once you do it, you realize that most guys here are truthful, honest guys just like the next man trying to sell off something to spend the cash on something else for his beloved rifle.

Thanks for the replies. FWIW I didn't buy. I did get in on the $359 Aimpoint PRO that was posted up in GD a while back.
