Looking for a midrange hunting optic and I think this may be a good fit for a 450 Bushmsaster deer rifle. Pretty good deal it seems for $200

I have a Vortex Viper 6.5 x 20 on a custom 308 and like it a lot.

Anybody on here have anything good to say about them?

Thanks,

I love mine, the glass is clear. Its a great scope for the money.

When I get ready to get optics, I was thinking of going with the Vortex 2-7.  The only thing that worries me is that their 1-4 costs $500.  The huge price difference is throwing me off.  Why would it be so much cheaper?

For compact hunting scopes they are great.  I have two 2-7 Vipers, both on smaller hunting rifles. I would recommend them.

I have one on my Cetme.  The glass is much clearer than what I expect from an optic at this price.

Like to hear all of this. Now I need to find a good mount to put it in. Any pointers?  ADM?

That would work fine or a used LaRue LT104 would be a good option.  If you are not planning on ever taking it off and are on a budget, a Burris PEPR mount works pretty well.

Would I notice any difference over the Primary Arms by getting the pepr mount?  Seems like my PA mount makes it sit high.

I don't really know.  I would shoot MARSH over at primary arms an IM asking him.  He is great at answering questions.

What's your price range and do you need quick-detach?

I had the 2-7 with bdc reticle. It was a great little scope, for $200ish I don't think you can do better. The only reason I sold it was to fund the right scope for my mk12.

30mm tube vs 1" tube
illuminated vs non illuminated
reticle design
turret style

probably more, but that's just off the top
