I'm putting together a rifle using the PRI Recce rail:
http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af5/B1422/reccerail.jpg I'm not sure what height I will need to mount the scope for proper eye relief. I want to use the LaRue LT 111 but I can't tell if it will be too high: http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af5/B1422/lt111.jpg I could also use LaRue ultra low rings but I don't know if the scope (Leupold VX-R 3-9 x 40mm) will have enough clearance on the rail. I'm a little knew to using magnified optics on an AR. Anyone able to help me out? Thanks. |

I like it also.
I know the quote below found on the LaRue site is about BUIS but I would call them; they could have some info. Note on BUIS systems:
Some BUIS will not fit under your scope in this mount. If you have ANY questions on your application, please call us. We are well versed in fitment. Do not automatically order the taller mount before consulting with us. Thanks! |

Preferred scope height should vary with head size, cheek fat, etc. I'm going through a similar issue right now. My course of action would be as follows...
1. Determine how much higher or lower you'd prefer the rear sight to be in a perfect world. 2. Add to this estimated value (better to have your wife or friend help and actually measure) to the distance from the base to the center of the aperture, this is your height preference. 3. Ask PRI for the height increase of their product (or purchase and measure). 4. Subtract the value in step 3 from step 2, this would be a ring height to seek. |
