I purchased a Trijicon Reflex II last month. The model specifically is the RX06-10, the Reflex with the M16/M4 carry handle mount. I do have a detachable carry handle and the deal was too good to pass up, and I figured I could get a new mount later (which leads me to my problem). I purchased the Reflex from a private seller/patron at a large and popular re-occurring Gun and Knife Show here in Columbia, SC. The sight was brand new in the box; according to him he was pruning down his collection. Anyhow, my new mount came in and I went to remove the Reflex from the carry handle mount and put it on the flat top mount. I got the sight off the old mount and looked through it. Apparently, mild handling was enough to knock the mask off of the tritium lamp, so now instead of an amber triangle, I get a large blob that would only be effective at <20m distances.
I have requested the return authorization from Trijicon for repair and followed the potential tritium lamp compromise steps. I am concerned because I didn't buy the sight from a dealer but rather a private seller they may not honor any warranty and fix the sight, even though it was brand new and I still haven't fired a round through it. I'm in the military and work 60+ hours a week...I'm kinda busy. What are ya'lls thoughts on Trijicon's customer service in relation to my problem? Thanks in advance. |

I love the Reflex II. Bought one used back in 2002 and used it until recently. It's a dated design and Trijicon wants them to go away. I talked with the rep at the SAR show in Phoenix about re-lamping mine and was told politely they'd have to charge me and I could get a new sight cheaper. Call the company and see what they say. I still like the sight, the design just prohibits easy repair. |
| I do have the original warranty card, I just haven't filled it out and mailed it in yet. The customer service rep in an e-mail told me if I still possessed it, it would be beneficial to register it to me. However, the e-mail containing my return authorization says 2nd hand purchases are void of warranty. So...not sure which piece of information is correct. I will mail in the warranty card and see what happens I guess. |

A brief update:
I was in contact with Trijicon's customer service, which, so far, has been great. Within half a day, they e-mailed me a return authorization number and instructions on return. I sent in the original warranty card, so it looks like they may pay for my repairs. I am still not totally sure because it's not all said and done with, but I am hopeful. I do advise anyone that mails a high quality optic back to the manufacturer to insure AND track the package. I feel this is a no-brainer, but it is worth the extra $10. I will update again when I find out the status of the repair. |
| Oh, there was definitely a problem with the reticle/lamp. I saw a perfect amber triangle (I must have looked through it 1000 times), and I removed it from the old mount M16 carry handle mount to put it on a new weaver flat top mount, and something happened in the transition, because instead of being a small amber triangle, it was now a huge blob. I talked to Trijicon's customer service, and the rep told me it was likely the mask on the tritium lamp used to create the triangle shape had fallen off. |
