I'm contemplating another AR, and am looking to go with a light weight Midlength upper from BCM mated to an LMT SOPMOD lower. No rails, just Magpul MOE Handguards, and BUIS, and a Trijicon RMR as my primary optic. Are any of you using just an RMR, and if so, how do you like it? Any regrets, would you do something different with it? CVN

I've asked this before. For the price, a T-1 wouldn't be much more and seems better in many ways (proven super durable, slightly larger glass, battery life, etc....all but weigh/size). The military moron guy ran a mini-red-dot like this for years and did fine, so it's doable. But now he runs t-1s I think.
I run an RMR on my glock and love it...I imagine it would only be better on a carbine. In fact, I've got a Burris Fastfire 3 (real clicks, waterproof––basically a cheaper RMR) coming in to mount on my AR pistol or carbine. We'll see. |

I had an RMR on my AK74 and it worked well for me. I was even using the 13MOA RMR and I had hits on steel at 225yards with the combo. RMR is super light and does not take much space on the rifle.
Since I sold my AK74s and went back to the AR15, I am using a T1 2MOA. Pro RMR size and does not require batteries. Pro T1-battery life and durability. I don't think you can go wrong with either set up...but the RMR has a huge advantage of no electronics, so if you are concerned about electronics failing...the RMR wins. |
