This picture thread is to show off everybody's tight 100 yd groups.
1. Post pics of target showing 3 or more shots at 100 yds. 2. Very Important: Post barrel and ammunition specs. Please include barrel manufacturer. 3. Please keep comments to a minimum just like any other picture thread. 4. I guess posting optics info would be nice too. 5. measured distance from center to center of farthest out bullet holes or a quarter or dime to show comparison would also be nice. I dedicate this thread to all the naysayers that claim AR15's aren't very accurate! A couple of things that should be remembered: 1. There is debate over how many shots per group you must shoot to determine the accuracy for a rifle. 2. Obviously the more shots you shoot the bigger your groups are going to be ( to some degree ). A 10 shot group is going to be bigger than a 3 shot group most of the time. 3. You could also shoot 3 shot groups multiple times and take the average group size to get a more definite representation of your rifles accuracy. 4. Purpose specific accuracy could play a part into how you shoot to determine accuracy. Taking 10 fairly quick shots say 1 every 5 -10 seconds may be a better indication for accuracy for people that run tactical courses where there isn't a chance for the barrel to cool down. On the other hand if you are varmint shooting where there are long pauses in the "action" shooting multiple 3-5 shot groups with long pauses in between to let the barrel cool may make more sense for you. 5. To me showing off a very tight 3 shot group is still very impressive and notable even though it does not represent the average of multiple 3 shot groups ( of which would be even more impressive ). Edit: Ok they moved this to the optics category for some reason. Thought it would be better in general discussion as optics, barrel, and ammunition are all very important. IMO the barrel being the most. |
