I wanted to know if any of yall have any experience with the Vortex StrikeFire Red/Green-Dot Scope. If so what is your opinion of it. I have looked around and it gets good reviews but I trust arfcomers over a youtube video or a customer review.
I would be putting it onto a Rock River Arms AR15 223 flat top Thanks Scott |

Used a friend's Red/Green briefly.
Go for the 'bright red dot' model, which is what I ended up buying. Much more efficient. I run mine at level 1 (lowest). Why, you ask? - minimizes dot bloom - will run like 5,000 hours on a set of batteries at that level - on the BRD model, I have no trouble picking up the dot on level 1 even in the Arizona sun I'm very happy with it - runs great, holds zero, pretty durable I sold an EOTECH and got into this and don't have any regrets...although I did like the EOTech's ranging reticle |

Great value, but I still personally prefer my Eotech, mainly for the reticle. The red dot performs great though and considering I can buy 3 Strikefires for one Eotech, I'll probably be picking up another. My other gripe with the Vortex is the FOV since I really like having large objectives but that just may be personal preference. Oh, the magnifier isn't really a selling point once you've looked through it... It has some decent fish-eyeing going on. It's usable, but not preferable. Brightness and clarity are not an issue though and even though I only have a few hundred rounds on the Strikefire, it's held up flawlessly. |
