I'm sorry if this topic is discussed a lot, I looked around for 20 min looking for a topic that covers it and could not find one.  My wife got me scope for Christmas and I had to remove my rear fold down sight to keep from contacting the bottom of the eye piece.  I put on a quick release mount and have a Bushnel Holosight I was planning on doing the same with and was hoping have BUIS as well.  I read somewhere about moving the scope further forward and shooting nose to charge handle was common but it feel a little odd to me.  Does anyone have a recommendation as to how far forward of the charge handle the scope should begin?  I understand it depends upon the eye relief and such, but I've only been a black rifle owner for about 3-months and was wanting to pick a brain or two.  Please show me some examples if you have them.

Thanks

Personal preference carries the day.

I shoot 4x32 ACOGs (notoriously short eye-relief) mounted flush with the front of the upper receiver behind the delta ring (except my A4 clone).

Others go so far as to get a LaRue mount that allows them to mount flush with the charging handle.

Eye-relief is the distance your eye needs to be from the lens in order to get a clear picture.

I was taught to shoot nose to charging handle (NTCH).  It used to be what was taught universally to ensure that shooters were getting the same sight picture each time.  Nowadays, they simply teach to shoot where comfortable - with an emphasis on repeatability.

Thanks,  I see a lot of pictures of guys shooting NTCH.  That would put my scope far enough forward to allow the rear sight to stay without contacting the scope at all.  I think I'll shoot it a little like that scoped and unscoped and see if I can get used to it.
