Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and plan on doing a lot of reading around here. I'm going to be getting an AR-15 soon and I was wondering if any of you had any Ideas on a compact 3-9X scope under $100.  I know you kind of get what you pay for and I plan on upgrading to a better scope later on, but for now  I just want something compact (shorter) with some decent magnification. Thanks

There is nothing I can recomend in that price range.  If you want cheap stuff go to the Primary Arms website and look at what they have.

I have both a Nikon Prostaff and a Redfield revolution.  Each scope is around $150.  I would recommend increasing your budget to at least that as these are really good scopes for the money.  I can't think of anything cheaper that has near the quality.

Are those scopes you recommended the shorter compact kind, or are they normal length?
thanks for the replies

This may be a good starter scope from Primary Arms because they stand behind their products. I have a couple of their red dot scopes.

This lower power scope would be good too. Good choice for an AR. More compact if that is what you want. 4x magnification is good for ARs if you mostly shoot under 200 yards.

I'd also recommend bumping up the budget to the $150-$200 range.  The Bushnell Trophy line has some nice budget optics.

none of the recomendations are compact scopes,  they are much better quality than the cheapo 3-9 compacts that are out there, I have not seen one worth a flip that is a compact 3-9

Ok, thanks for the advice everyone, I guess I'll have to look at some different options
