The top of the flashlight? The DD mount provides a 1/3 cowitness when using irons. The fact that I don't currently have irons installed doesn't change that. OP: Sorry, had you been a little more specific in your original question (before you edited it) I would have refrained from posting. Tomac |

I'm just guessing but I think he thought an AR-15 optic question should be here: AR-15 » Optics, Mounts, and Sights YMMV Quoted: Honestly mod? The question was AR15 oriented. The very next post shows an AUG or MSAR. |

I don't think the OP means T-1 class red dot either. I think he means MRD's such as Trijicon RMR, Pride Fowler, Deltapoint, etc. I think that they are viable. I've seen some in pictures of Travis Haley's rifles and LaRue has been making the iron dot for a while now. The big problem with the MRD's is the activation. For example, the Burris FastFire II is probably the least expensive in this class. But it also has a little tiny switch to activate it which makes it fine for range but no good for defense. The Trijicon RMR and Deltapoint are either always on, or are activated by motion. Obviously, you get more features as you pay more, but for the most part the less expensive makes are going to have either activation or battery life issues. |

I used to have the setup pictured below. I think the RMR would work great as a primary optic, at least no worse than any other RDS. It's very durable and I found that it's small size was perfect for both-eyes-open shooting in the same way a T-1 is. I got rid of it because I didn't care for the amber dual illumination. That said, I got a RM06 (adjustable LED) which ought to work out quite well. I plan to use it on a FN SLP shotgun, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a SBR (had I one) or any other carbine. http://i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz285/k_wilkin/DSC_1049.jpg That's a nice looking rifle. I have a Fast Fire and J point so I'm a little familiar with the Micros on a pistol and an AK. I have 2 T1a and 2 M2s on rifles now but wanted to experiment with an micro as a primary on an AR and wanted to see what others were doing. |
