I have the opportunity to purchase an Aimpoint CompM4 at a very good price. However, the owner thinks it's a Chicom clone. Both my gunshop and I think it's the real McCoy but there's the rub,,how do you know for sure? It is stamped Aimpoint, has a serial number 1370993,and says it's Made in Sweden.
I remember something about the Chinese cloning these years ago but can't find that thread. Can any of you help me authenticate this optic?? Clint |

Went to Aimpoint's website and read this: http://www.aimpoint.com/us/products/counterfeitscopies/16-tips/ I guess the owner was right about it being a clone. The red or green dot option gave it away. And the gun shop didn't catch that? I wouldn't trust that guy. |

Same way a person could by a fake and think it is real. |

I guess they also don't deal with the shooting world...... |
