First off, yes, I'm a noob. Now to the point. I have been wanting an AR for a while now and was able to convince Santa to get me one this Christmas. He brought me a S & W M&P-15 sport. Bare bones, budget gun that I am proud as punch to have. Of course it didnt come with optics, so in my fevered state the day after christmas I ordered a Leapers 4-16x40. I know, I know it is cheap but I can't spend alot on extras right now. So I've mounted it and I think I've made my first mistake. The scope is really long and gets in the way of the charging handle. I've looked at several offset mounts but it will have to be a high mount to let the front cover close if I offset it far enough up to be out of the way of the handle. I've looked at alot of mounts but cant find one (in my budget) that I am sure would fit my needs. Any suggestions?
