Can you, or rather is there a known/recurring problem, mount an Aimpoint M4 forward of the upper receiver?

Thanks

The fore end will move if placed under pressure, say from pulling a sling taut (assuming it's mounted to the fore end).

If you want reliable accuracy, mount it on the upper receiver. If not, try it on the fore end but you have been forewarned.

May I ask why are you considering this?

I messed up, I guess, when I ordered my mounts.

I'm trying to put a pvs-14 behind the aimpoint, but the pvs-14 won't clear the rear buis.

If I shift everything forward it works and the sight picture seems fine.

Would you recommend removing the rear buis or should I just get new mounts and put the old on the EE?

Which BUIS do you have?

I believe it's a Troy. It's marked Noveske, but I'm pretty sure that is the brand they put their name on.

Troy BUIS....ok. That's one of the lower profile sights so you're pretty close to minimum size back there.

If I were you, I would look for a rear sight that's even lower profile than the Troy/Noveske first because that would be simplest and least expensive option.

What are you using the rifle for, when you run with the NVD?

I was planning a trip down south to hunt hogs with some friends. Can't really use the combination, legally, up here.

The KAC 300m micro might fit under there, but no promises.

The KAC 300M is supposed to be .145 lower than my current Troy. I'll take a hard look at it tomorrow and see if that will be enough to clear.

How about a larue cantilever mount for the m4
