I really like the look of the magpul MBUS sights. They seem priced reasonably and though I like the Troy Di-optic ones I think spending over a hundred bucks on a single sight is a bit much.
I am going to be using a scope on my new upper but I would like to have the back up as well just for grins and just in case. I was ebaying the night away and found some cheap MBUS sets and I mean CHEEEEEAP ... then i noticed there was some bullshi*tery involving "PTS" models ... which explained the cheapness. Seriously what the actual eff?! What is the dang difference??? Seems to be PTS is popular with the airsofters (ughhhhh... im starting to hate airsoft more by the day...) How do I even tell the difference between the two? That is my main concern - if I buy "real" ones and they wind up to be PTS ones how would I ever even know? Are the real MBUS ones worth the money and are they good or should I be looking elsewhere for back ups? |

Nothing wrong with a MBUS. There certainly are scoffers, that "would never use a plastic sight for serious use", but in my experience and that of many others, there is nothing wrong with running Magpul's MBUS. I run a rear MBUS as a BUIS, but I also like to shoot with irons and frequently flip 'er up and let 'er rip. Never had a problem.
You certainly can haunt the EE looking for deals, or if you just want to get it and don't want to work for a better deal, AIM offers them at a decent price and free shipping. Good Luck. |

MBUS's are gtg. They're the only BUIS I own and I've never had a problem...and I even use them on occasion just for fun. Are they as sturdy as Troy...probably not.
Also, as I've said before, I'll win the lottery before.... 1. I need to actually use an AR and 2. I'm able to actually deploy it and 3. My ACOG or Aimpoint shit the bed and 4. I've survived that longt and 5. I have no othe problems (out of ammo, injured, etc.) and 6. I deploy my BUIS and 7. They fail too (to the extent that the rifle isn't useable and I can't pick up another). I do not even play the lottery. |

I shot Troy and MBUS today at the range. I like the Troy's alot more and I was more accurate with them. The MBUS were good sights also and I wouldn't hesitate to use them on other rifles. Just depends on your purpose. My troy sights will also have a scope on it in a quick release and will be used more.
I put the magpul sights on a rifle that will have scope mounted on a non quick detach mount and will probably never be used. Juse depends. |
| I have the MBUS on mine as back ups and I think they are great. They are definately ok for "minute of douche bag", if it came down to it. I would use the Troy sights if I were running just irons though. After fondling them, before I bought the MBUS, They are built like tanks. |
