I just got my 3 rd upper in
I now have a del-ton 5.56 16" ,  DPMS 5.56 20"  and a CMMG 22 upper 20" all 3 ar the  A3 style
noticeded on the Del-ton and CMMG I see what looks like an  "F" stamped ion the side of the front sight and the  CMMG looks like it has an "E" stamped in the front sight

What does the letter mean?

My guess is that the F is the proper sight for a carbine (which it appears to be on) and maybe the E is the proper sight for a 20" barrel.

New here but that is consistent with my reading.

The "E" is probably a forge code, while the "F" could either denote that the FSB is of the taller "F-marked" type, or it could be a forge code as well, depending on what side of the sight base it's on. Simply put: If the "F" is on the left side of the sight base, it denotes that the sight base is the taller type (taller sight post shelf). If it's on the right side, it's a forge code.
