just ordered a mtac 1-4 and i'm guessing that it won't be coming with any kind of mounting. been looking at several different mounts and not quite sure if i want to go with a qd mount or a bolt on mount. would like to stay somewhere in the $100-$150 price range if at all possible. right now its going on a 16" mid length, probably going to be used for a range gun for a short time, than i would like to get into some shooting competitions.

At that price range, get a midway coupon code and get one of these.  If you are willing to save just a bit more, I would recommend getting a Larue or Bobro.  I have all three brands, and like Bobro the best.  Others will put them in a different order, however everyone's top three list have the same brands.

You can find used Bobro, LaRue, and ADM mounts, on the EE, for about $160.

i'll keep an eye out on the EE for one. although i would like to get one soon so as i can go out and shoot. is there any specific reason mounts are so damn expensive?

I use a GG&G quick disconnect mount on two of my AR's and have been extremely pleased with them. One carres a 3-9x40 Leupold AR and the other an EOTech XPS2-0 holographic. I have had no negative issues with either application.

I ordered a G.G.&G. FLT mount,  got it today. Now just waiting for the scope to arrive. Off topic, does anyone know what kind of flip-up caps fit on the Burris Mtac / Tac30. I was gonna pickup a set today if know the size. It's a 1-4 x 24mm. I would imagine that one is gonna be at least 24mm, but what about the other one? Thanks
