Really like the Trijicon RMR LED Adjustable, but I haven't seen a lot of reviews on this sight being used with carbine rifles.

What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to change the battery without losing zero?  From what I understand you have to take the RMR off its mount to gain access to the bottom battery compartment, but could you still return to zero somehow?  Does anyone make a mount that is quick detach that would allow you to access the bottom battery compartment without removing the RMR from the mount?

What I'm thinking of doing is consolidating into one basic optic and going with the RMR on both my Glock 17 and STG-556 rifle, but if I can't change batteries on the rifle mounted RMR without losing zero that will probably blow that plan out of the water.

Also, I have been looking at the Insight MRDS, which has access to the battery from the top of the sight.  However, I've read at "Warrior Talk" (I know, I know) that folks bash the Insight MRDS as not as reliable as the RMR and more prone to accidental turn-off due to the rear on button position than the RMR.  What do you guys think about the Insight MRDS?  Curious to hear from folks here since I don't fully trust Warrior Talk.

Thanks.

My Insight has been fine.  I'm not sure how to accidentally turn it off as you have to hold the button about 4 seconds and it depresses firmly.  I wanted a trij, but picked up my insight cheap, and the company has a good reputation.

How long have you had your Insight, what type of firearm is it mounted to, and how much use has it had since you purchased it?

Where did you buy it from?

Anything you could tell me would help. Thanks.

Well, according to Trijicon's literature, the RMR will have a 4-year battery life on 4/8 brightness if left always on. So, I doubt battery changing should be that monumental an issue, unless you like it really bright.
