Just trying to get some different opinions on having BUIS as well as a scope. I can't really see there being a need for them as there would be if one were using a RDS. I'm about to finish up my first build and I know i would like to have a 1-4 scope. I don't have irons yet, and was contemplating on whether i should buy a set of BUIS first, than get a scope or just go ahead and buy a scope.

What are you planning to do with the rifle?  Carbine course = BUIS, paper punching from a bench = no BUIS.

Well when its done i was planning on going to the range with it. Than next spring was going to see about some kind of course, and eventually some 3-gun.

Well, since you're going to the range first maybe just get a scope first then later get this iron sight for 3-gun competition.

Might as well get whatever optic you want, but I recommend cradling it in a nice LaRue mount

One day you'll want BUIS so you can quickly remove the optic and put it back on without losing zero.

I'll start checking out some prices on scopes, and look into those sights as well. i had planned on getting a detachable mount for the scope as well. although that might need to wait till i get the sights. thanks for the replies.
