If you had to choose, which one of these optics would you get? I can get a new lucid red dot with 2x magnifier for 190, or a new vortex strikefire with a 2x mag for $100. I have no exp with optics and sure as hell don't have $500 bones layin around for an aimpoint of eotech, so that's out of the question. If anyone has exp with either of these optics I would greatly appreciate your input! Thank you!

I have the Lucid, and just burned through my first AAA battery after about a year of light use. I like it a lot, but I have to agree that the thing is a pig. It threw the balance of my middy off. I've played with the Strikefire and I think the Lucid has a bit of an edge in usability even though the two are very similar in function. I even like the multi-reticles of the Lucid too. I use the Eotech circle when the 2x is off, and the dot when it is on. The other two reticles are useless. But.... if you can get a Strikefire for $100, it's a no-brainer. That's a sweet price. Use the extra money you save to get a good set of BUIS if you don't have wm already. You never know when your China optic will take a dump on you.  Of course, you can kind of use the sight as a giant aperature in a pinch too. Up close, accuracy was so-so if I did my part.
PS. I hear a lot of folks complain about the 2x magnifiers, but I really dig mine. Sure, the FOV is garbage, but you use the thing with both eyes open. Just keep your non-dominant eye semi squinted and use it to track your target. Dominant eye gets a zoomed in view of the same picture. I can hit water bottles chucked in the air like that.  It's total fail trying to use one of these like a traditional scope.
