I recently an Aimpoint M4s. The unit works well, but I have found that there is a significant amount of play in the rotary switch in the "clicks" position to set the brightness of the dot and I can't see any screw to register it.

Is this normal or should I consider this unit a defective piece and ask for a replacement?

Thanks!

mine clicks into place tightly, but I'm not sure what you consider loose. once you set it, does it stay on that setting?

The Aimpoint M4 power dial has that "play" in the dial on purpose. The dial can get bumped into things and banged around without damage to the sight. If the dial didn't have the "play" built in, it was more likely to become damaged during hard use.

Seem weird, but that is how Aimpoint makes the M4 type sights.

Clicks should be distinct and stay in position.  Knob itself should be loose and wobble readily.

I mean that the switch is not tight on its settings. After you move it and reach the next "click" it can be moved freely back an forth between the actual setting and the previous.

What you are describing is normal. Click, then play left/right. Click to the next setting, then play in the dial left/right.

Thanks folks!

I'm happy to know that my M4s operates properly!
